The Spencerport School District, ten miles west of Rochester in an area described as
rural-suburban serves the town of Ogden and parts of the towns of Parma, Gates and Greece.
Now that the Rt.531 extension of Rt.490 stretches into the community, there continues to
be a steady growth in new homes and new students.
The district is modifying its More Effective Schools/Teaching Project, which began in
1983 and received state and national validation, to reflect the "second
generation" of effective schools research. "Teaching for Learning by All"
is the district's motto and philosophy that all children can learn. A comprehensive staff
development program provides teaching and support staff with the latest strategies for
educational research to transform this philosophy into practice.
